It’s been a while since my last CHECKING IN, so I wanted to reintroduce the series. A semi-regular update where I share hotel critiques, what I’m planning, where I’m traveling, what’s on my radar, and a few favorite things in between.
I’m Jordan Rose, founder of Atelier Le Monde, a luxury travel consultancy focused on curated, highly personal itineraries. I specialize in honeymoons, multi-stop journeys, and destination-driven trips that blend style, culture, and comfort.
Think of this as part travel journal, part client update, part personal dispatch.
Planning | What I’m currently researching and booking for some of my clients:
A multi-stop honeymoon across Southeast Asia, weaving through Amanpuri, Six Senses Yao Noi, Four Seasons Tented Camp, and Shinta Mani Wild—a dream trip of jungle luxe, barefoot beaches, and remote immersion.
An East Africa honeymoon that includes Little Chem Chem—think cinematic plains and elegant tented suites—and continues to Songa Migrational Camp, a mobile luxury camp that chases the Great Migration, before ending at a private villa in Zanzibar.
A family trip to Iceland centered around Deplar Farm—outdoor excursions, geothermal soaks, and black lava landscapes.
A Coastal Italian honeymoon built around icons: Hotel Santa Caterina, Mezzatorre, and Borgo Santandrea.

Hôtel Critique | Hôtel du Couvent in Old Town, Nice
I can’t say enough good things about this hotel. I was skeptical before we visited—as I am with any place that’s been highly praised online and is still in its first year of opening—but truly, everything from the location to the service to the room aesthetic and amenities was perfect.
You’re greeted with fresh juice and homemade madeleines at check-in, and sent off with a takeaway bag full of them when you leave. It’s thoughtful in that quiet, considered way that feels rare.
We got upgraded to the gorgeous Terrasses du Cloître suite and spent every day in the Roman bath spa. I loved how close it was to everything in Old Town, but still so hidden you had to look for the entrance—which kept it feeling private and lowkey. Once you were inside the grounds, you felt like you were secluded, not right in the middle of town.
The outdoor pool overlooks both the city and the sea. The bar and food offerings were diverse and genuinely great. Their breakfast might be one of the best I’ve ever had (Forestis is included in that list): fresh seasonal fruit, a bakery on-property, and anything you could possibly want.
It was an old convent, and you can feel that history in the best way—it keeps its soul intact but with just the right amount of modern upgrades. I could go on forever. If you’re spending a few nights in Nice, you have to stay here.

Location: Tucked away in Old Town Nice, just above the city. Peaceful yet central.
Rooms: 88 rooms and suites—earthy tones, arched windows, vintage pieces, and intentional design.
Dining: 3 restaurants, including a casual terrace spot and a garden restaurant with local produce. Breakfast is a standout.
Wellness: Roman thermal baths, steam room, sauna, gym, and a lush outdoor pool overlooking the sea.
Extras: On-site bakery, garden spaces, and a focus on seasonal, local living.
Traveling |
A few places to catch you up on, as a lot has happened since the last check-in:
We spent 10 days over Christmas + New Years, starting in the Italian Alps at Forestis, crossing into Austria by train, staying at the cutest ski town in Zürs, then onto Rosewood Schloss Fuschl, and ending in Vienna before heading back to Budapest.
I spent 8 days in Paris and loveddd it. I shared all the details—including hotel reviews here.
A work trip brought me through The Algarve, Madrid, Mallorca, and the Costa Brava. I shared some Mallorca highlights from a hotel we visited!
After finishing our time in Budapest, we traveled to Egypt for 10 days. We stayed at Al Moudira in Luxor, sailed down the Nile with Nour el Nil, and spent time in Cairo. You can read my thoughts and reviews here.
Weddings brought us to South Carolina, Punta Mita, and most recently, Antibes—I have a South of France recap coming soon.
Coming up:
I have a work trip coming up to Telluride to stay at Madeline Auberge, and I’m excited to explore the town, fly fish, and relax.
After that, we’re off to the Basque Coast + Paris. I’ve already started pulling together some recs—which I’ll share this week.
On My Radar |
Eat: Canteen in Notting Hill. Their chocolate mousse with olive oil and sea salt is calling my name.
Sip: ROJO in Paris. Romantic + moody.
Stay: Villa Magnan in Biarritz, France.
If Kelly Wearstler says it’s “wildly chic,” I'm going.
Vibe: Restored French Belle Époque villa turned private, design-forward escape.
Location: On the fringes of Biarritz, close enough to town but tucked in greenery.
Rooms: Minimalist, high-design suites with travertine sinks, aged parquet floors, and soft natural light. Oh + the tiled bathrooms!
Restaurant: Da Puta Madre—a dining experience with wood-fired flair and a gathering-around-the-table spirit.
Amenities: Pool, gardens, serene interiors, bikes on hand, and interiors that channel French surf culture meets Milanese restraint.
Do: Eat the original Basque cheesecake in San Sebastián. Burnt, creamy perfection.
